Your Style?
Comfortability: I am a natural person. I hate idleness in any form. Casually sexy or preferably casually creative.
Your Signature look was long braid, some years back. It kept lots of people wondering how much time and energy are involved?
Waoh!... I’d started out with long braid out of the sheer experimental and daring nature that I have. My level of endurance is high. I take one day at a time. Today I see people wear longer braid and it’s cool.
You’re also one of the people who started wearing long scarf tied like mini turban in fashion scene in Nigeria ?
It’s because I love to wear easy outfits that fit dual purposes, at the same time sexy. I’d used scarf often and been into scarf longer than I can remember, which I throw on my neck and sometimes tie on my head stylishly. Some years back, some people said I was deliberately taking after Erykah Badu, which wasn’t so. For anyone who knew Yinka eight to ten years ago, the person would tell you I’ve been in on scarf for sometime. I love to cover here (points to her head) and there (and her bare shoulder).
Your skin care routine?
My daily routine determines everything about me. I moisturise with separate facial and body soaps. I have a naturally petite figure, so I don’t exercise. I don’t skip my breakfast for anything. And I don’t pick what I eat either. So, everything physique comes naturally to me.
Favourite designer locally and internationally?
I believe so much in Nigerian brands. Especially, the designs of Lady Diana Oputa, Titany Ambers and once in a while Oodua Creations.I love Nigerian designers. They are highly creative people. Internationally, I’d not follow or patronize labels, it’s good and fits then I pick it.
Other accessories that you can’t do without?
I’d love beads. Unique long beads. I’d love shoes. Strappy sequins high scandals (Salva-tore Ferranemo). I also have some Monolo Blaknik that I like so much. But nothing that I can die for really.
Your choice of books, music and car?
Honestly, I still have phobia for cars. I love to listen to jazz music. It’s really deep and nondescript. I also love creative fusion of western and African music genres. I read inspirational and story telling books, I admire Sefi Atta’s "Everything Good Will Come. "
Your style fact?
Our everyday life has so much to do with our inner self. There’s work to be done and that work must be done. Which is sending a positive message with every outfits adorned. Decency and uniqueness are my personal watchword.
I don’t skip my breakfast for anything. And I don’t pick what I eat either.
